Marcelle's BB Cream Review

Ellah from Makeup For Fun mentioned she wanted me to review the Marcelle BB Cream as she was anxious to hear my opinion. So here it is!

First off, I just want to say that the only BB creams I have previously tried are the Missha Perfect Cover and the Skin Food Aloe Sun BB cream. I think I paid around $13-16 for each from a store on Ebay. The one time I have been to Pacific Mall, most BB creams I saw there were at least $20 or more, so what I paid seems reasonable to me. So I don't have a ton of experience with these products considering I have only tried 2, therefore I don't have much to compare it to but I'll do my best.

Marcelles BB cream was about $23, more than what I had paid for the other two, but less than a lot of other kinds so price wise it's in the middle. It is 45ml or 1.5oz. It is: hypo-allergenic, perfume free, paraben free, oil free, and non-comedogenic.

It claims to be an 8-in-1 product and these are the 8 benefits as listed on the box.

1. Evens out skin tone
2. Immediate and long term hydrating benefits.
3. Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses
4. Promotes skin regeneration
5. Controls shine
6. Smoothes and calms
7. Reduces appearance of imperfections
8. Provides an anti-dull radiant complexion.

Does it really do all of these things? Well not really, but I doubt any product does. It does even out my skin tone and control shine to a small extent and slightly reduces imperfections. It is not moisturizing enough to skip your moisturizer, but I didn't expect it to be. I happen to have some serious acne right now because I ran out of proactive and was lazy about ordering more and now its back-ordered. If you have acne it's not going to be enough. You will still need your concealer.

In my opinion its just as good as the other BB creams I have tried. But I still think I like the Missha one better in terms of general coverage. But I do feel it evens out my skin tone nicely and its much faster than foundation. I have been using it daily since I got it and now my routine is simply rub in some BB cream, conceal my trouble spots, MAC powder, my MAC fix plus spray and thats it. All in all that takes about 5 mins.

There are 2 things I really do not like about it and they are:
1. It's a pump. I would rather just squeeze it out
2. THERE IS NO SPF!! This is the one thing that disappoints me the most because mostly all BB creams I have seen have SPF. I almost want to write them and complain. lol.

Bottom line is I DO recommend this product. If you expect it to live up to the 8-in-1 hype you might be disappointed. If you are looking for a more full coverage, you won't get it. If you have a clear complexion to begin with, this may be all that you need. To me it's like a tinted moisturizer but with slightly better coverage and it makes your skin look nice. If you are simply looking to simplify your routine and save a few mins, but don't have TOO high expectations, I think you will be glad you bought it!

I find that BB creams claim to do miracle things. They may be based on the concept of the "healing cream" used to heal scars and reverse the effects of aging etc, but I doubt that the ones we get now is really that same miracle cream they were originally based on.
I mainly use my Missha mushroom cream as a tinted moisturiser. It doesn't last that long and just evens out my skin a little bit, so I don't think I'd repurchase. It does smell nice though!
