November's Expenses

Income: $1346.34

Expenses:
Rent: $200
cell phone: $67.47
Fast food/eating out: $48.74
Lunch/dinner at work: $114.88
Books: $58.78
Misc: $17.25
Going out: $6.00
Gifts: $8.00
OSAP: $450.00
Makeup/skincare: $48.45

Total expenses: $1019.57

Left: $326.77

This is a basic breakdown of my income and expenses. I find it hard to make it more detailed, because no matter how I run the numbers it doesnt seem to make sense. Like every time I get paid, whatever money I have left over from the last pay goes into savings. Or I put away a little at a time into savings for my student loan payment, and then pay a large sum. I find it hard to show all this in detail and have it make any sense. No matter how I run the numbers it always works out that I hardly have any money left, even though I do have lots left! :(

I still don't have an actual budget. Im going to just keep tracking my expenses for December and then starting in the new year I will make an actual budget.

This month I had 4 no spending days! Hopefully I will have at least that many next month if not more.

I think you're just like me. You need to track your expenses diligently, because if you don't, you can't see that $1 and $3 really adds up to $200 a month... even in bank charges too

Try saving or paying yourself first in the budget over other expenses..

Well done! By the time you have read the David Bach book you will know about paying yourself first. I consider that the most important rule about "budgeting".

Another vital book for you to read is "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki. Once you "get" what he is teaching you will *always* think twice before pulling our your credit card or wallet.

Best of luck on your journey!

Try making your lunch at home. It saves a fortune. Or take leftovers from dinner and heat them up in the microwave. Or even cup of soup. But if you avoid packets and pre-made stuff and do it from scratch, you will be better off.

Thats not a bad idea! I think i might try to keep some kind of record as to where my money is going and how much i have left...once i finally get some money rolling in.
