Recent Ebay Haul

I thought I would share with you my recent ebay purchases. I actually haven't bought anything off Ebay in a long time, but after these recent buys I am wondering why I don't use it more often.

I have been seeing pictures of this iPhone case floating around the internet a lot and planned on getting one eventually. I've seen it in the malls for like $20-$30 but knew I could get it cheaper on Ebay. I paid about $8 with free shipping and it came from Hong Kong in about 10 days.

1. Fiberwig Mascara
I was searching for Asian beauty item recommendations and a lot of people were raving about this one. It was about $15 with free shipping and it came the day after my case, from Hong Kong as well. I have to say after trying it twice I don't really get the fuss. My lashes are pretty long to begin with so it didn't really do much that other mascaras can't. I'll definitely keep using it but won't order it again.

2. Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream #23
Those who have been reading my blog awhile have read my Marcelle BB Cream review. This blows Marcelle out of the water. I have used this before and after trying it once I immediately knew I would re-order. This is probably the best thing I've ever used on my face. I  use only a pea sized amount (less even) and rub it all over my face and I'm good for the rest of the day. I add concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes and I am good to go. And the best part is its SPF 42!

Unfortunately I misread the listing and didn't get as much as I thought. The last time I ordered it was a long time ago and I remember paying around $13-15 for one which was I think a 50ml size. This time I ordered 2 which came to about $21 for both. I thought I was getting 2 of the same size as before but these are only 20ml each. But that's my own fault for not paying attention.

Weekly Spending and a small warehouse sale haul!

Here is what I spent from May 11-17

11th: $50.63 Walmart ( $39.51 moms day gift, $11.12 groceries)
12th: $34.29 Zehrs  ($21. 47 Joe fresh jewellery on clearance, and $12.82 groceries), $35 gas
13th: no spend day!
14th: no spend day!
15th: $0.70 juice on lunch break
16th: no spend day!
17th: $1.94 Tims french vanilla

Total: $26.58 food, $39.41 gifts and $35 gas

I did so much better this week in terms of buying more groceries  and bringing my lunch to work which is ultimately cheaper and better for me!

Now for my small haul. The Revlon/J&J warehouse sale comes to my city now which is kinda cool. It was here last time but I didn't bother to go. This time I wanted to check it out, so I headed over before work today. I really had no expectations because I knew they probably wouldn't have that much. I did manage to score a few items though.

1. SpaResource Sole Saver $3
Its some sort of thermal sock thing to make your feet really soft. Thought it seemed interesting and good for getting my feet summer ready!
2. Vaseline Soothing Hand Cream $4
3. Veet Hair Removal Gel Cream $4
Ive always been curious if any of these Veet products actually work and I thought for 4 bucks why not?
4. Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in "ruby"$3
Another red for my collection
5. Revlon nail polishes 3 for $5
The colours I got are a nice coral/orage ("Make Mine Mango"), pale yellow ("sunshine sparkle") and bright pink ("guava")

I'm off this weekend and my plans are: drinking wine, painting my nails and toenails, hopefully visiting a friend, maybe a little shopping at Old Navy ( heard they're having a massive sale on tanks, figured its a good time to stock up on the basics), a BBQ with coworkers, and just relaxing in general.

What have you got planned this weekend?

December Luxe Box

This month's Luxe Box arrived yesterday and while I was pretty excited to received it, I was not too excitedabout what was in it. Here's what I got:

1. Yves Rocher Rouge Dragee lipstick full size. Not sure of the name of the shade. It's a nice rose colour. Not something I would buy on my own but it's alright.
2. Yves Rocher sample size shower gel in Mandarin Orange. Packaging looks like something from a dollar store, but the smell is lovely!
3. Sample of Nina Ricci L'air frangrance.
4. Sample of Nina Ricci L'elixir frangrace. (this one smells better)
5. Full size NYX eye pencil in Black. This is the best product in my opinion because I needed a new black pencil eyeliner! So it was good timing.

Overall in terms of getting my money's worth I feel this month was not nearly as good as last month. I signed up for 3 months so I only have one more to go. If the next one is not that great I plan to cancel this subscription.

There are 2 other beauty subscription services I have been reading about lately: Top Box and Glymm box. From the reviews I have seen, these ones seem pretty good! I think I will sign up for these and see what one is the best.

How much does my daily face cost?

So I am totally copying Kim here because I thought this was a great post idea. These are the only things that I truly use every day and the totals are mostly estimated.

1. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser - $12
2. Marcelle Cleansing Water - $13
3. Cetaphil Daily facial moisturizer - $16
4. Mac Fix plus - $20
5. Skin food Aloe Sun BB cream - $13
(if you have never tried a BB cream I highly recommend it!)
6. Mac pro longwear concealer - $20
7. The Balm sexy mama translucent powder - $20
8. Mac Mineralize Skin Finish in Dark/Natural and Shimmer - $18.50 (got from a warehouse, its normally like $30 something)
9. Mac cream colour base $20

So just for calculations sake lets say these products are gonna last me a year so the total is $152.50 divided by 365 days = 42 cents a day! Not bad!!!

Boxing Week Shopping

Today I decided to go to the city for some after Christmas shopping. There was a few things I was looking for and thought it would be fun to go out of town for a change.

First stop was the Pacific Mall in Markham, ON. For those of you non-Ontarians, it is a mall that is Asian-run. All the stores are owned by Asian people and they sell a lot of Asian food, cosmetics etc and you can get knock off anything : clothes, purses, sunglasses etc. Oh there is also a lot of electronics. I had never been to this mall before and just wanted to check it out. I also wanted to get some more Asian cosmetic products. One thing I noticed was that a lot of stores were not open at the opening time of the mall. I got there right after opening, so next time I will go later in the day.

I ended up getting quite a few snack foods/candies. After I got home I tried them all and they are all amazing! My family all tried them as well and agreed. I am going to take them to work tomorrow to share with everyone. I also did get some makeup products. Here are some pics:

After that I went to Vaughan Mills. I probably should not have gone there. It was totally insane. It took me probably 20 mins to find a parking spot. I probably could have bought a lot more if I wasn't feeling so claustrophobic. The stores were way too crowded. It's too bad because there was some good sales. I ended up getting a bit more makeup because there is a store there that sells the brand NYX which is a brand I like and you can't get it where I live.

Besides that I had a list of what I was looking for that consisted of:
  • new winter coat(ski jacket type, right now I have a peacoat which looks nice but its not that warm)
  • new winter boots ( replacement for my Ugg look-alikes)
  • nice flats for work
  • 2011 agenda
  • sunglasses (mine broke)
  • nice pants for work
  • and another other clothes I may have got had to be work-appropriate.
So thats what I was looking for but all I got was the coat. I ended up getting an Adidas coat. It is one of those 3 in 1 coats. It was regular $250,marked down to $149.99 and it was 40% off so it was $101 tax included. I thought this was pretty good for Adidas and I hope to get at least 2-3 years of use.

I googled Adidas jackets after I got home because I wanted to find a price to see if it was really $250 regular price. A lot of stores lie about the regular price to make you think you are getting a better deal. I couldn't find anything Canadian but this picture was from a UK site and it was listed for $135 pounds. So I'm not sure if they lied or not but I am confident that it was still a good price.

I am thinking of doing a clothing/accessories shopping ban soon like a lot of other bloggers. Especially since I am going to buy a new computer soon. I have to figure out all the details and then I will post about it!

Online Shopping Hauls

I recently cashed out some money from survey sites like Lightspeed Panel and Social Spark. I left the money in my paypal account and decided to treat myself to a little online shopping.

First I went to Shop Craze. It is a website that sells mostly MAC and NYX makeup for less than retail. You can get a sample of MAC pigment for only $2.25 instead of buying the full size for almost $25 retail. Of course you only get a small amount, but any MAC user knows a little goes a long way with pigments, and the amount you get would last for quite a few applications.

I got 2 pigment samples in Teal and Melon. After ordering I realized I already had Melon. Not too smart of me! I also got an NYX lipstick in B52 and a Mega shine Lipgloss in Cady Shop.
I also made my first Etsy purchase! From a store called The All Natural Face. It is a shop that sells vegan makeup/skin care. I got 10 pigment samples for $1.50 USD. But I really ended up with almost double that as she sent me many samples as well!

Here is what I actually bought:

And here are all the samples she sent me! Theres 2 lipglosses with a little brush, and eyeliner sealant, 4 eyeshadows, a concealer, a blush and a mineral veil ( setting powder).

I haven't really tried many of these yet but once I have I will let you know what my favourites are.

I also tried my first bit of Asian makeup! I have been reading a lot about asian makeup on various beauty blogs and really wanted to try out this product called BB Cream. Basically its like a tinted moisturizer, SPF and concealer all in one. It is supposed to make your skin look radiant. I got 2 different ones: Skinfood Aloe BB cream and Missha Perfect cover BB cream. They also sent me 2 samples of moisturizers.

I got these from an ebay store called Healthy Skin Care Shop, based in Korea. I've only tried the BB creams a few times so far, and so far I like them! Once I have used them more I will write more about them.

Computer's broken :(

It looks like Mary ( from Hail Mary) and I are having the same problem right now..our computers need fixing!! My computer is having some technical difficulties right now, and I am not sure when it will be fixed. Hopefully within a few weeks time. So I may not be able to post as much, but I do have another computer in the household, so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem.

I wanted to post a few photos from my recent shopping trips and online shopping hauls but looks like I will not be able to do that anytime soon!

I recently purchased Urban Decay's Primer Potion. For those of you that have never heard of it, it's an eyelid primer. An eyelid primer is something that helps your eyeshadow stay on longer, keeps the colour and prevents creasing. I have been wanting to buy this for so long, and I finally got it.

The Verdict: A-MA-ZING
This product is absolutely true to its claims. I have worn it two days in a row now, for a whole day (well atleast 8 hours) and at the end of the day my eyeshadow still looks exactly as it did when I first put it on. The colour does not fade at all and there is absolutely no creasing. This was a big problem for me, and I can't even explain how happy it makes me to find something that works!!!
I definately recommend this product to any makeup junkies out there!! If you don't have it already that is. :)

My Latest Discovery!

I'm so excited to tell you guys about this place I found. I found this warehouse in my town that sells makeup for less than retail! AND THEY SELL MAC! I'm so so so excited that I found this place. They don't have like, tons and tons of it, but they have a good amount. The only thing that sucks is that its in a glass case, so you have to ask to see the things you want to look at. It's obviously to prevent theft, because its the most expensive line in there.

They also sell a bit of Cover girl, maybelline, L'oreal, Pupa, and TONS of Sally Hansen and NYC. They also have a lot of hair products, skin care, hand/feet stuff, etc
etc. It's like heaven for anyone who is big on makeup/skin care products. I was told they get new MAC about every 6 weeks or so, so I will definately be checking back regularly! The weirdest part is, this place has existed for years and I never knew about it!

I spent about $62.00 which was going overboard a little, but I got stuff for so much cheaper than retail that I couldnt help it. I got:

MAC lipglass: $10.50 vs $16.50 retail
MAC blush: $13.50 vs $21.00 retail

MAC mineralize skinfinish: $18.50 vs $32.50 retail
(2) Sally Hansen line smooth mineral lip treatment: $2 vs $7-10 retail
Sally Hansen foot cream: $2.00 vs $7-10 retail
Sally Hansen airbrush legs: $3.99 vs $6-9 retail
LaCoupe perfect curls conditioner: $3.99 vs $8-10 retail.

So I saved atleast $50 minimum which is pretty cool. It's a good thing this place is on the other side of town in an area that I hardly drive near so I won't be going that often! If it was on my side of town I would be in trouble! Here's a picture of my goodies:

I'm a sexy mother-pucker!

The other day I stumbled upon Soap and Glory's "Sexy Mother Pucker" Lip Gloss. With it's cheeky name and eye catching packaging, I couldn't resist. Not to mention the fact that it was in the clearance section for $4.99!!

I picked up a tube in "peche" which is basically like a bubble gum pink colour, with a hint of rose. I probably have a few other lipglosses in almost the same colour, but I had to have it anyway. (I always seem to gravitate toward the same colour, basically, why is that?) But the thing that sets it apart from any other lippies I have is the fact that it smells like a tootsie roll...which is surprisingly odd. But its not enough to stop me from wearing it or anything.

You can check out their website here. It is not yet set up for online orders, but fellow Canadians can pick it up at Shoppers Drug Mart, and in the states it is sold at Target.

I ♥ MAC Lipglass

Ok, so the $82 I spent on makeup mentioned in my December Expenses post? That was because I ordered a few things from MAC. I had not gotten anything from there in awhile, and since they were having a 25% off sale on their holiday stuff, I decided to place an order. By the way, they never have sales. So it was a big deal.

So I ordered:
1. Dame Edna lipstick in kanga-rouge (awesome colour!!)

2. Little Darlings 5 warm pigments set

3. Little Darlings 5 pink lipglass/lustreglass set

(couldn't get pics of those cause they are no longer available on the site, and I lost the cord for my camera to connect it to my computer)

I've never actually tried the lipglass before ( I know, I'm way behind here). I would test colours on my hand but it always seemed too sticky for me. Well turns out I love them!!! The lustreglass is also great but I like the lipglass a little more. I will definately be getting more of them in the future.
