White Iphone

I want.

They now have a white Iphone and I want one. I have a blackberry pearl and I have had it for 2 years. I still have one year left on my contract with Bell. My phone has gotten considerably slower lately and I am getting sick of it. Plus there is the fact that I have to be really careful with it because it has called 911 by itself. Twice. Im sure the fact that its getting slower has a lot to do with me adding apps and downloading a theme which probably is taking up a lot of space on my little memory card. I don't even know how much space is on this memory card because my friend worked at Bell when I got the phone and she had a few extras and just gave it to me. I could probably solve this by getting another one with more space. But I would rather get an Iphone! :)

Right now Telus has a deal where it is free on a 3 year contract. Unfortunately this does not include the white one though. I am not sure if I will hold out until the end of my contract. The fee to cancel is $20 per month that you have left, up to a max of $200 (I think). I'm going to try and hold out for awhile still. Even if I pay to cancel and am able to get an Iphone for free (hopefully someone will have that deal at the time) it's still cheaper than paying for an Iphone. Maybe by the time I finally cancel, they will have even better deals!

So about a new computer...

So I definitely need to get a new computer within the next month and wanted to get everyone's thoughts/recommendations. This is what I do with my computer:

  • Communication: facebook, email, MSN
  • Surfing and blogging: general surfing the web and reading blogs and writing this one of course.
  • download and listen to music
  • watch dvds
  • keep track of spending with a spreadsheet
  • store pictures
I WILL be:
  • doing my online course and submitting projects/essays etc.
  • hopefully in the future setting up my jewelery store on etsy.
I DONT do:
  • any gaming
  • any artsy stuff like graphic design or serious photo editing (although perhaps some basic stuff once I get more into my jewelry business)
After a lot of thinking and research I am about 99% sure I want a Macbook. Basically everyone that I know that has ever made the switch says they would never go back. I have been to the Apple site so many times, reading/watching all the tutorials and seeing whats different about a Mac. I also heard that Apple has superb customer service if you are having any problems.

I have read a lot of reviews and many people compare it to the macbook pro 13" (which is only $200 dollars more). People are saying its basically the same computer except for more memory in the macbook pro and it supposedly has a bit better graphics I think and some SD card slot or something. My computer that I have right now has that and I have never used it. Some people are saying that the Macbook's unibody enclosure is a bit more durable than the macbook pro's aluminum casing.

Here are some basic tech specs on the macbook:
  • 4.7 pounds
  • 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2Duo processor
  • 2G RAM
  • 13.3" display
  • has a built in camera
  • 250 GB hard disk space
  • 10 hour battery
  • comes with a lot of programs
The things I like about it are:
  • weighs less than current computer (current one is about 7 lbs!)
  • built in camera
  • longer battery life(mine only lasts about 2 hours)
  • I dont really know that much about computers but according to the various reviews I've read it seems that the operating system is really really good. People say it doesnt really get slow, even when doing lots of things at once. And reviewers are saying the 10 hour battery life claim is pretty much on point. Some people have complained that it only has 2 USB slots. I dont really care about that because for the longest time I didnt know my computer had 3 cause I only ever use 2 (one is in the back and i didnt see it).
I thought 13.3" inches would seem small (the one I have right now is 15.4") but I saw it in store and surprisingly it didnt seem small at all! I know you can get more bang for your buck with a windows based pc in terms of hard drive and stuff but I feel like I want to go more for reliability and something that is going to last longer.

So I am looking for all you computer savvy people to comment on this one!! Do you think this is a good choice or do you have a better idea? :P

Who knew crocs were so cool??

When you think of "crocs" do you think of this?

Well so do I . I don't remember how but I ended up on the website the other night, and lo and behold, they have so much more than just those ugly things (no offense if you have those! :P )

Here are some of my favourites:Crocband Flat Plaid $39.99
Croccasin $59.99

Ginger $79.99

Emmilou $99.99

I have been searching for some nice flats/wedges to wear to work when I want to dress it up a little but no luck so far. There is a Crocs store in an outlet mall about 20 mins from where I live so I might check it out, maybe they will have boxing week sales.

Needs vs Wants

I'm totally jumping on the bandwagon here and making a list of needs and wants like all the other bloggers seem to be doing these days!

Needs:
  • new glasses. I last got my eyes tested almost 5 years ago. My glasses were originally prescribed to be used in situations that put strain on my eyes such as reading, using the computer, driving at night, etc. Ever since I started working in pharmacy I found that I would get a headache almost every day if I didn't wear my glasses. So I started wearing them every day at work. Now that I've been wearing them, I NEED them! When I am sitting on the couch at home, I cannot read the print on the tv guide channel without my glasses (well I can if I look really hard but its not clear) nor can I tell what time it says on the HD cable box thing. I find it kind of scary! I used to have excellent eye sight!!!
Cost: exam- $80-120 depending on the place. (not covered) Glasses: at least $150-$200 dollars out of pocket. I figured the glasses will be about $200-$300 total ( my current ones were $230 almost 5 years ago) and I will get re-imbursed $100 from my benefits.
Wants:
  • New computer. My laptop is almost 6 years old which is ancient for a computer! It is a SONY Vaio which I love dearly. This thing has been through a lot with me and its still going strong! (knock on wood). I have only had 2 major problems with it in the time that I had it. At just about the 3 yr mark, I had a shaky screen and a problem with the computer over-heating and turning itself off. Luckily I had the extended warranty so I got a brand new screen and they fixed whatever was causing the over-heating. Then about a year ago it crashed. I think it was a virus. My friends boyfriend fixed it and he said probably the only reason it lasted me so long was cause its a Sony. I silently thanked my mother for insisting on a Sony because "its a brand that's been around forever so I trust it", even though it was expensive by todays standards ($1799!!) For this reason, I am seriously considering a Sony again. I think I might get another year out of this, tops.
  • Haircut. My hair is pretty long right now, and as much as I kinda like it, I also think its a bit of a hassle. Especially in the winter with the frizz. It's also a hassle in the summer with the heat and the sweat issue. So I guess its kind of a hassle all year round! I'm not really good with hair styling, I usually just either throw it up or straighten it, and I do a little braiding here and there. Part of me just wants to go to one of those cheapy places because I just want a few inches cut off and some layers. How can you screw that up right? But I also kind of have a fear of going to those places. So..I probably wont. That will be about $50.
  • Nice black shoes. I want a pair of nice black semi-dressy shoes with a small heel/wedge, the kind that are versatile so you can wear them with anything. I want to be able to put them with almost any outfit to dress it up, something I can wear out to the bar and dance and look stylish enough but not kill me. I would be willing to spend about $40-$50. The picture below is an idea of what I am looking for.
Hmmm, I can't seem to think of more than one thing that I really NEED right now.. I guess thats a good thing right??

Dream Christmas List

I'm joining in with all you other bloggers and making up a dream Christmas List. If money was no object this would be my Christmas list.

1. Kitchenaid Stand Mixer
I have never had or even used one of these, but I really want one! I think if I had one of these I would experiment so much more with baking. Just think of how much faster and easier everything would be!

2. Wii
No explanation needed really...everyone knows how great these are. I think it would be more motivating to do fitness stuff because its more fun on here somehow.

3. New laptop
Mine is about 5 years old, that's old for a computer! Its still fine, but I don't know how much longer it will last, or how much longer I can tolerate it! It's getting really slow, and it gets really hot, and the fan is so loud. And its very heavy/bulky by todays standards.

4. Trips to Portugal and Bora Bora
Portugal because it's where I'm from and Bora Bora because ever since I saw it on a travel show on tv when I was a kid, I said I was going to go there for my honeymoon! lol

5. Tiffanys Necklace
Ever since I discovered my love for Audrey Hepburn, I had a new found love of Tiffany's. They kind of go hand in hand :) I'm pretty sure any girl would love to have an item from this store, if they don't already.

Newest Wishlist Item

These are Vancouver 2010 mittens. And I want them. I saw them in the flyer for The Bay and Zellers, and on a commercial. They are $10 and the proceeds supports our athletes. Not only are they cute, but I happen to be obsessed with all things Olympics. I have a Vancouver 2010 bag from Aritzia, a stuffed mascot toy thing, a keychain, and a special limited edition coin with one of the mascots on it. I just find the Olympics so exciting and I can't wait to see what Vancouver has in store!!

I went to the Bay today, and they were sold out. They told me they sold out in 1 day. And Zellers is sold out too. But they will get more in, I will have to keep checking back. I don't really want to order them online and pay shipping. The best part is I have a $25 HBC gift card that I got with my Air Miles. So I don't have to spend any money!

Current Wishlist

I've decided to post my current wishlist. A lot of bloggers have been doing this lately including some I read like FB and Krystal. So here is mine:
  • How to make love like a pornstar (book)
  • car emergency kit ( Just bought a car and feel like I should have one, cause you never know)
  • new purse
  • wonder hangers
  • Hello Kitty shaped cookie cutters/baking pans
  • a storage drawer unit just like this one from costo. I saw one just like this once at a garage sale but some of the drawers were broken off the tracks so I didn't buy it.

Wonder Hangers

It's pretty rare that I seriously consider a product that I see in those infomercials on tv, but this one I am. They are called Wonder Hangers and as you can see from the picture above, you can fit like 5 items on one hanger. My closet is pretty full and I think they would be great for organizing and making more space. Once I had all my clothes on hangers like these, it wouldn't be so full and then it would be easier to get to stuff, I think. On the commercial I think it was about $15 for a bunch of them, I don't remember how many. But I also saw them in a store for $8.97 for I think 8 of them. Not too bad of a price in my opinion.

Would you consider a product like this? Have you ever bought any of these "as seen on tv" products?? And if so, was it all it was made out to be?

A Small Christmas List..

So I finally came up with a small Christmas List to give my mom. While I was at the mall doing some shopping yesterday I was looking at boots, and decided I would like a new pair. So I found a few pictures online, from stores in the mall and printed them out to give to her. I found three for her to choose from, I figured I would give her a bit of a price range, and some she may not be able to find.

$79.99 from Spring. These are my faves I think.
$69.99 from Spring

$59.99 from Sterling

Then I also found this cardigan from the Gap called the Wintersoft Cardigan....it looks sooo soft and warm. :) It said it was regular $48.00 on sale for $33.00 but who really knows once you get to the store..Plus I think that might be american pricing...oh well.

All I want for Christmas is..

Nothing really!!
This is the first Christmas where I really can't make a list of things I want! No matter how much I think about it, I can't really think of any particular items that I want. The only thing I really want is car. But my parents definately can't afford that. :S
I asked for a MAC gift card, there is a certain upcoming collection I am excited about. I also asked for some pyjama pants and mentioned I wouldn't mind the new Taylor Swift cd. Other than that, I think I would rather just get gift cards for stores I like! When it comes to things like clothing/accesories etc, I would rather pick it out myself. Plus I live with my parents, so I don't need any household type things or anything like that.
This year has gone by so fast, and I can't believe that Christmas is only a few weeks away. I really don't feel Christmas-y this year! I guess the fact that I can't really think of what I want, contributes to why I don't feel really excited. I guess it's just part of growing up....

What about you guys? Does your christmas list keep getting smaller as you get older?
